Duana: Game 2

This is a planned continuing campaign report from the Dungeons & Dragons campaign I’ve recently started with friends, set in my own created world of Duana. It’s more of a running record than an attempt at stunning prose or storytelling. That said, I hope you enjoy it.

SUMMARY OF GAME ZEROES AND GAME ONE:

Our sizable party of adventurers, after having met each other in twos and threes, all found themselves in the town of Tirisfell. There, they were hired as caravan guards by the merchant Alderman Colart. Alderman meant to journey west to the city of Blackrock, but the road through the Mistwood was known to be dangerous, and so he wanted to hire some additional muscle to ensure the safety of himself and the goods he had for trade.

On the Mistwood road, Alderman’s fears proved to be correct, as the caravan was ambushed from both sides by a party of goblins and wolves who came sweeping out of the woods. Though you adventurers fought off the attack, Alderman himself was captured, and you found the goblins’ trail as they dragged him off south into the forest.

You followed for some hours, whereupon you encountered an Owlbear, which perceived you as a threat to its territory and attacked. You dealt with the threat fairly easily, and after a little more travel, you came upon a cave in the woods.

Ethan, Willow, and Zelren crept forward stealthily to investigate. Just inside the cave, they found a fast-flowing underground river with a single, five-foot wide stone bridge spanning it, and waiting…
