What are the Chronicles of Underrealm?
I’ve just launched a Patreon campaign for the Chronicles of Underrealm.
If you’re wondering what the heck that is, it’s a crowdfunding campaign to support a series of short fiction pieces, called the Chronicles, set in the fantasy world of Underrealm.

That world has been built in these nine books, written by me, and I’m opening up the world to other authors to tell awesome stories in.
If you’ve already read the books of Underrealm, you’re going to love the Chronicles. There’s a lot of characters and places and events you’ll recognize.
But if you’ve NEVER read a book of Underrealm, don’t worry. Every story stands alone. You don’t have to have read anything beforehand. It’s like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
Underrealm is a diverse world. Unlike some fantasy book series we could name …

… it has characters of color, and characters with disabilities, and LGBT characters.
But I realized a while ago that all those characters were being written by me, who is none of those things.
And so with the Chronicles, we’re opening up the world to people whose voices you’re less likely to see in fantasy. We’re seeking out and hiring the best authors we can find of diverse race, gender, sexuality and ability.
So why are we doing this on Patreon? Well, because we want to give our authors as much support as we possibly can, and you can help with that.
If we sold the books on Amazon, Amazon takes most of the money of the sale. Here’s what the split looks like.

That green section is royalties, and we want that as big as possible so our authors make as much as possible.

And here’s the split on Patreon. As you’ll notice, there’s a lot more green, which means our authors are much better paid.
And that’s the whole point of the Chronicles. Finding authors who have been underrepresented in the world of traditional fantasy publishing and giving them the best chance we possibly can to break out in the genre.
If you become a supporter, you’re going to be helping Legacy Books help authors who are just starting out. And I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.
Check out the different reward tiers on the Patreon. They’re pretty awesome, and we hope you’ll take advantage.
And please consider sharing this project with other people you know who enjoy amazing fantasy fiction. Because that’s what we’re going to be giving you, starting very soon.
